Delhi Metro Orange Line
The Delhi Metro Orange Line also known as the Airport Express Line ( Line 7), is a metro rail line of Delhi Metro, a rapid transit system in Delhi, India. It became operational on 23 February 2011 and is operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The Delhi Metro Orange/Airport Express Line consists of 6 active stations with a total distance of 22.7 kilometres, of which 15.7 Kilometers are Underground and 7 elevated. The Airport Express Line runs from New Delhi Metro Station to Dwarka Sector 21, Linking the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The Orange/Airport Express is the first line in South Asia to have a Check-in facility outside an Airport, and it will be the first line in India to use Geographic Information System (GIS) for mapping the route. This technology will enhance safety, maintenance, and traffic regulation, and help mobilise emergency services in case of an accident.
All the Metro Stations on the Orange Line, collectively referred to as City Airport Terminals (CATs), are equipped with advanced security technology such as explosive detectors, large x-ray baggage scanners, under-vehicle scanners, quick reaction teams, and dog squads to provide a secure environment for passengers and their belongings.
