Delhi Metro Red Line
The Red Line (also known as Line 1) is a metro rail line of Delhi Metro, a rapid transit system in Delhi, India. It was the first line of the Delhi Metro to be constructed and opened. Its first operational section, from Tis Hazari to Shahdara station, had a total distance of 8.35 kilometres and consisted of 6 stations in 2002. The Red Line network has now been expanded to 29 stations, a length of 34.6 kilometres.
Delhi Metro Red Line is an entirely elevated line that connects many important commercial and residential areas of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and districts of Shahdara, Central Delhi and North West Delhi.
The starting station of the Red Line (Delhi metro) is Rithala, and the ending point is Shaheed Sthal. It is the third most heavily used line by its commuters. The Red Line also has interchanges with the Yellow Line, Violet Line, Pink Line, and Green Line.

Delhi Metro Red Line Stations
The Red Line is the first line of the Delhi Metro. It became operational on 25 December 2002. This first section consisted of 6 stations, from Tis Hazari to Shahdara.
Over time, new stations were added by DMRC to the line, extending from 8.4 kilometres to 34.6 kilometres until 2023. The Delhi Metro Red line has 29 stations and connects Rithala to Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) in Ghaziabad.

Delhi Metro Red Line Extension – Phase 4
The current Red Line of Delhi Metro consists of 3 Phases: Phase 1 (Rithala – Shahdara), Phase 2 (Shahdara – Dilshad Garden), and Phase 3 (Dilshad Garden – Shaheed Sthal). Moreover, a new extension, phase 4, with 21.7 Kilometers and 19 proposed stations, is under construction. It was supposed to be completed but was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and is expected to be completed soon.

Conclusion: The Delhi Metro Red Line has a rich history, starting its construction in 2002 and successfully entering its 21st year of serving and providing efficient transportation for the residents of Delhi. Currently, the Red Line connects several essential areas of the city. However, Phase 4 of the Red Line is expected to improve connectivity to outer regions of the city.
