Delhi Metro Routes

Delhi is India’s National Capital Territory (NCT), with a total area of 1484 square kilometres. To cover this area without causing any confusion, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) makes it easier for the people of Delhi to know which metro lines in Delhi cover which part of the city by assigning them different colour names. The rolling stock for all Delhi Metro Lines is 286 metro trains with 1905 coaches.

Multiple types of passengers travel by Delhi Metro daily. To make their travel more accessible and more convenient, the Delhi metro Card has been introduced; this allows passengers to avoid standing in lines for tickets or tokens. However, there are two types of cards, one for long-term and another for short-term use.

Delhi Metro Smart Card

Delhi Metro Smart card is a long-term, Multiple-journey rechargeable card. If you are a daily commuter of the Delhi metro, no doubt this card benefits you.

  • Purchasing: You can purchase the Smart Card from the Customer care centre or Smart card vending machine.
  • Price: RS. 150/-, of which Rs. 100/- is an added value to the card and the remaining RS. 50/- is a refundable security deposit.
  • Recharge: Users can recharge their smart card at the customer care centre, vending machines, and through a Debit/Credit Card with Rs 100 to 3000, with a validity period of 10 years from the recharge date. However, an online recharge facility is also available on DMRC’s official website.
  • Benefits: With the Delhi Metro Smart Card, one can avail of a minimum 10% discount on each journey and get an additional 10% discount if a commuter enters the paid area during off-peak hours, that is, from the start of the Revenue service until 8:00 AM, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and from 9:00 PM until the closing of the Revenue Services. NoteAdditional discounts will not be available on Sundays and national holidays.

Delhi Metro Tourist Card

The Tourist Card is a short-term, multiple-journey card specially designed for tourists who want to explore the city of Delhi and the NCR region.

  • Purchasing: You can buy a Delhi metro tourist card from the customer care centre.
  • Balance Check: In any station, place your card in the AVM Machine to scan. Then click on the Enquiry button and check your balance.
  • Refund: The balance on the tourist card is not refundable. However, The security deposit shall be refunded after handing over an undamaged card.
  • Benefits: The Tourist card consists of unlimited rides within a specific period. However, there are two types of Tourist cards.

DMRC Lost and Found

  • In case of any item is found, hand it over to the nearest customer care centre.
  • If any item is lost, visit nearby customer care centres within 48 hours, and after 48 hours, contact the Lost and Found office.
  • You must present original identification proof with an address and a photocopy to collect your lost item from the DMRC Lost and Found office.
  • You can collect the lost item from the office within a month, or DMRC may dispose of the item.
  • The office is at the Concourse level, below platform no—03 at the Kashmere Gate Metro Station.
  • It is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM except for Sundays and national holidays.
